Cobra will organize an important charity event in conjunction with the opening of the new pavilion. The pavilion is being finished these days and it is made of 20.000 m3 of stainless steel, glass and cement in avant-garde style.
This coming October 5th I will be reaching the fateful “50’s”!
I decided to celebrate this date by organizing a charity event and involving the best known designers close to me: working with many of the best recognized international sportswear designers after decades of profession in the business.
October 22nd on Saturday: the date for the event. It is the same day of my last-born child Emma Camilla who will turn 1 year old!
The goal and purpose of the charity event is to contribute in the construction of a water work that it is being built in the region of Gatare-Rwanda (see enclosed information). This installation will serve the schools and villages of the area providing drinkable water to 1.000 people who still today live in hygienic unease. Men, women and children are forced to walk for hours in order to get water. The construction of the water work cost so far $ 200.000.00 and has been financed by the foundation “Alberto Sordi”, in agreement with the Holy See. The project is now waiting for additional contributions for its completion. For the second part of the project, which should cost about $ 100.00.00, a “sympathy match” will take place during the Cobra soiree on October 22nd.
The long term relationship with the non-profit organization, which manages the finances for the realization of this project, is the famous agency “ONG”: “Amici dei popoli”. The members of this association are wonderful people who dedicate their best energies to diverse on projects with specific focuses. Instead of providing emergency help, ONG aims to assist in the development of employment and hygiene, which helps to ignite and sustain development in the micro economy.
Cobra has previously collaborated with “Amici dei Popoli” in the past three years, realizing: an oven for "bread cooking with grinding equipment” in Argentina, and “a library and a small all girl school for the study of professional cut and sewn” in Rwanda: and they perfectly work!
In conjunction with this event a new ONLUS has been formed: the “Riccardo Candotti Foundation” which will have all the beneficial goals of a “non-profit” organization. We plan for this organization to be a start point for the solidarity work we intend to reach this year.
The location for this event will be the new pavilion, over 3.500 square meters on three floors, built next to the Cobra facilities of Padova The soiree will be cheered by shows and the appearance of prestigious guests and artists.
Antonella Ruggiero is one of the most versatile voices of the Italian and International scene. In 2002 she presented an “all American experience” tour featuring the most important songs of the Broadway shows; she is performing such pieces in a tour in Marocco and Tunisia until October 21st. The concert performed during this night will be recorded live and an exclusive CD will be “offered/available” during (era: at the end) of the soiree. The singer-song writer Mario Venuti will also participate; he is the composer of some of Ruggieri’s songs and solo singer of some others. Mario and Antonella will be performing also new duets together that night.
Ruggiero’s name, thanks to the abilities of a great performer mixed to a natural curiosity and a desire to move freely beyond traditional formulas and languages, told us about the evolution of traditions and public taste. Her career initially with the band “Matia Bazar”, and later as a solo artist, has been able to space between various fields and achieve numerous goals.
We expect more than 1.000 guests to attend the event; so that we may obtain the best results for a solidarity match we intend to start.
